Colorful Rock — a bouldering gym in Nagoya
Colorful Rock is a bouldering and climbing gym in Minato-ku, Nagoya, Japan. This guide is for climbers who already boulder. If you are in Nagoya for work or on a trip, you can walk in, pay the standard rate and get on the wall. We do not offer first-timer instruction in English, so please come with some gym experience. We set problems across a wide range of grades, and our MoonBoard is permanently installed.

Prices for climbers
On your first visit you pay the standard rate for the day and time you climb, plus a one-time registration fee. Rental gear is optional — there is no charge if you bring your own shoes and chalk.

Added on your first visit
- Registration fee ¥1,000 (one time only, adults)
- Shoe rental ¥300 — only if you need it

Payment: cash, credit cards and QR code payments are accepted — only if you need it
Example: two hours on a weekday with your own gear is ¥1,700 + ¥1,000 = ¥2,700. With rental shoes and chalk it comes to ¥3,100. After the first visit, you only pay the standard rate.

What to bring
Climbing shoes and chalk if you have them, and clothes you can move in. If you plan to use rental shoes, please bring socks. Lockers and changing space are available at the gym.

Getting here from central Nagoya
Colorful Rock is in Minato-ku, the port ward in the south-west of the city. Here is roughly how long it takes from the places visitors usually start from.

Times are approximate and depend on connections and traffic. The Aonami Line runs from Nagoya Station, so you do not need to change trains. For the map, see our access page.
Visiting for the Asian Games? Sport climbing is two wards away
Sport climbing at the 20th Asian Games (Aichi–Nagoya 2026) takes place at Port Messe Nagoya, Exhibition Hall 1, from 29 September to 3 October 2026. Boulder runs in the first half, Lead in the second, and the gold medals are decided on 30 September, 1 October and 3 October.
That venue is in Minato-ku — the same ward as this gym, on the same Aonami Line. From Kinjofuto Station, the competition venue is connected by a covered walkway; our gym is four stops back towards Nagoya Station at Kohoku, then about a ten minute walk. If you want to climb yourself while you are here, boulder is what you can try at Colorful Rock.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to book?
No. If you already climb, you can walk in during opening hours and pay the standard rate. We do not run a first-timer trial or lesson in English, so this guide assumes you have bouldered before.
Do you speak English?
Our staff are mainly Japanese speakers. Check-in works fine with a translation app, and we will help you get started on the walls.
Can I rent shoes and chalk?
Yes. Shoes are ¥300 and chalk is ¥100. If you use rental shoes, please bring socks.
Is there a MoonBoard?
Yes, permanently installed, so you can climb problems from the MoonBoard app.
Is there parking?
Yes, free parking on site — seven spaces in front of the gym and two more in a second car park.
